Established in 2001, the .NAME universal domain extension is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal web pages only. These domains can consist of personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other titles people are known by. At first, just 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to acquire john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already grabbed 3rd-level names remained active.

You will be able to correct the WHOIS contact details, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already purchased domain to our company if you take its EPP transfer authorization code from the present registration provider and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been done. There are no specific conditions on who can acquire a dot NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the idea behind its creation alive, the Registry may check who the Registrant is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration can be challenged.
